I chose this purple banded agate for the incredible pattern running through the stone. Fine lines in lilac, violet, navy and almost black sweep across the surface, creating a striking striped effect that changes completely from one stone to another. It has plenty of colour, but the deeper shades keep it sophisticated and very easy to wear.

I’ve set the large polished oval stone in a 925 silver finish because I wanted the cool silver tone to complement the purples without competing with them. The generous size makes this a proper statement ring – exactly the sort of piece I love for adding interest to a simple outfit.

I’d wear this one with black, charcoal, navy or denim, although it would also look great with crisp white, soft grey or a splash of lime or mustard if you enjoy stronger colour combinations.

Each agate stone has its own individual banding and markings, and will look identical to the photograph.
